white marble statue's face of wee boy

Light in the Museum

The top floor in the great hall of the Museum of Scotland houses a row of sculptures, which we’d never been past before, but I noticed the light breaking through the clouds was casting fantastic shadows from the roof beams in amongst these frozen faces.

The face which grabbed me most was this one, and for the exact opposite reason I’d been drawn to look at them – it happened to fall outwith the direct sunlight and instead was suffused with soft light, which perfectly matched the soft features of the wee boy.
